Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement sets out the actions Junk Removals has taken, and continues to take, to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our operations and supply chains. Junk Removals provides waste clearance and junk removal services and recognises our responsibility to uphold human rights and ethical practices in every aspect of our business.
Our Zero-Tolerance Approach
Junk Removals maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery, human trafficking, forced or compulsory labour, and child labour. This applies to all employees, agency workers, contractors, and suppliers. We are committed to conducting business ethically, transparently, and in full compliance with applicable labour and human rights laws.
All staff are expected to act with integrity and are made aware that any involvement in, or turning a blind eye to, modern slavery in our operations or supply chains is unacceptable and will result in disciplinary action, which may include termination of employment or contracts and, where appropriate, reporting to relevant authorities.
Our Supply Chain and Supplier Standards
Our services rely on a range of suppliers, including waste transfer and recycling facilities, vehicle and equipment providers, personal protective equipment suppliers, and labour agencies. We recognise that some of these sectors can present a higher risk of labour exploitation and we are committed to managing these risks proactively.
We expect all suppliers to uphold the same standards that we set for ourselves. As part of our supplier onboarding and ongoing relationship management, we communicate our zero-tolerance policy on modern slavery and require suppliers to confirm compliance with applicable labour, human rights, and health and safety legislation.
Supplier Audits and Due Diligence
Junk Removals conducts proportionate due diligence and audits on selected suppliers based on risk, size, and nature of services provided. This process may include pre-engagement questionnaires, review of labour practices and policies, confirmation of right-to-work procedures, and checks on the use of subcontracted labour.
We periodically review our high-risk suppliers and, where appropriate, may conduct site visits or request additional documentation to verify compliance. Where concerns are identified, we work with the supplier to address issues within a clear timeframe. If a supplier is unwilling or unable to meet our standards, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate the relationship.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Junk Removals encourages employees, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to report any concerns related to modern slavery or unethical labour practices. Concerns can be raised directly with line managers, senior management, or through our internal whistleblowing arrangements, which allow for concerns to be raised in confidence.
All reports are taken seriously and will be investigated promptly and objectively. We are committed to ensuring that individuals who raise concerns in good faith are protected from retaliation or detrimental treatment as a result of speaking up.
Training and Awareness
We provide appropriate training and guidance to relevant staff to help them recognise potential indicators of modern slavery, particularly those involved in recruitment, procurement, and on-site operations. This helps our teams identify and act on any warning signs, such as unexplained control of personal documents, indications of coercion, or unusual working or living arrangements.
We continue to develop and improve our training materials as our understanding of risks evolves, and we encourage open discussion across teams about ethical and responsible business practices.
Monitoring, Governance, and Annual Review
Responsibility for overseeing our approach to modern slavery rests with the senior management of Junk Removals. We monitor the effectiveness of our policies, due diligence processes, and training programmes, and we keep records of any incidents or concerns raised and the actions taken in response.
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is reviewed annually to ensure it remains relevant, effective, and aligned with legal requirements and best practice. As our business and supply chains develop, we will continue to strengthen our controls and take further steps to prevent and address modern slavery risks wherever they may arise.
